Thomas “Tommy” Earl Faircloth
Tell Us About This Person & Memorial: | Jovial, happy, humorous, prank puller, classy, funny, intelligent, ingenious, innovative, awesome hair dresser. Those are only a few words that define my Dad, Tommy Faircloth. As a dad, he was the best. ever. He was compassionate, a superb listener, a shoulder to cry on, an advice giver, a wonderful role model and quite honestly, my very best friend. He always made time for me, always brought me my morning cup of coffee, rain or shine, because we lived across the street from each other. We saw each other daily, multiple times throughout the day and talked on the phone just as much daily. And my son, well, Dad adored him like no other! To my son, there was no other person on the earth who could compare to his PawPaw, in his eyes. Professionally, beginning his hair career in 1977 at Lexington Barber College, my Dad spent nearly 35 years cutting hair. He was a trend setter, a master stylist, a hair perfecter. He took pride in his work and it showed! His clients adored him!
He opened his first salon, Hair Unlimited, in Gainsway Shopping Center, Lexington, Kentucky, in 1978. Seating only two stations, with a rapidly growing business, less than five years later, he opened a larger salon, also named Hair Unlimited, around the corner from his first salon. The second salon accommodated seven stylists. Yet again, business grew, so Scandals Hair Salon, East New Circle Road, Lexington, Kentucky, was founded. Seating 12 stylists, my Dad owned this salon for nearly 10 years before he had the vision to open what is now known as Top Notch Salon. Beginning in 1999, my Dad began designing Top Notch Salon into the beautiful salon that it is today. With a visionary mind and creative style, the entire design and nearly all of the work, was done by my Dad. In 2011, very unexpectedly, my Dad died of a massive heart attack. While Top Notch Salon (and my Son and I) will never be the same without him, I will see to it that his legacy will continue to live on. His Spirit, Soul and Laughter, has been, still is and will always be, the foundation of Top Notch Salon. Top Notch was his work, Top Notch was his Salon, Top Notch was my Dad, Tommy Faircloth. Rest In Peace, my Sweet Dad. Thomas Earl Faircloth January 28, 1944 – March 28, 2011 |
