KANAWHA COUNTY, W. Va. (WSAZ) — A man died and a few others were hurt in a 2 vehicle crash in Alum Creek Monday.
The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 1:30 Monday morning at the corner of U.S. Route 119 and Alum Creek Road.
Witnesses told deputies a gold Nissan Maxima drove from Brounland Road, across U.S. 119’s north-bound lanes and into the south-bound lanes when it was hit by a Nissan Murano. Deputies say the witnesses estimated the vehicle’s speed between 60 and 100 mph and did not stop at the stop sign before entering U.S. 119.
A deputy says they saw the Maxima in two pieces on the roadway and three people were ejected from it.
Mitchell Garrett, 19 of Saint Albans, died as a result and the driver and another passenger were hurt and taken to the hospital.
Deputies say the driver of the Nissan Murano was not injured and their passenger sustained an arm injury.
